Frequently Asked Questions

Where possible, we would like people to be able to pay for courses/events with time credits (or pay a koha if they would prefer). However for some costs, we have to ask for a contribution to cover the costs of materials, others may tell you what materials to bring. Most of our tutors are voluntary, the Learning Exchange does not make a profit and we are committed to affordability.

The answer to that question is limited only by our imagination. If someone has a skill or knowledge they want to share, we find a way to make that happen.

If you’ve got a skill that you would like to share, please get in touch with us via this enquiry form. If you’d like to be a community coordinator, email us, or give us a call on (03) 376-4020.

Timebanking uses hours as a kind of currency that we all have. Give one hour of service to another member, receive one time credit. Timebanking happens when a network or circle of members have agreed that they will acknowledge the value they create together through sharing, by giving and receiving time credits for the exchanges they've shared. Those networks are called “timebanks.” Check out Timeexchange.co.nz for more!

We have some basic resources to help you plan a session. But if you love your subject and growing connections in your community, that’s the main thing! Experience (or a perceived lack of) should not be a barrier to sharing your passion.

Fill out our contact form and someone will get back to you.
